Africa Week
19 - 23rd May 2008



* Finn Harps football challenge
* African marketplace in the hallways with displays of African art, crafts, sculpture, landscape models, clothes, etc.
* A South African Barbecue outside with free juice and Borrawurst hotdogs - thank you Shaun !
* African food tasting cornucopia
* Folk tales from Ghana by storyteller Erica Birch-Abba
* Drumming workshops by two groups Kegite and Sambawara
* Drumming performances
* Our school choir performing African songs on the outdoor stage and also at the local hospital
* Pupils from the neighbouring 'Educate Together' national school joined us for the dance and drumming workshops
* African fashion show
* African dance workshops with Linda, culminating in outdoor performances on Africa Day
* African face painting
* Fairtrade stall for visitors to buy from and to raise awareness of fairtrade issues.
* African buffet available in the staffroom on Africa Day for staff and invited guests
